Model United Nations (MUN), is organized by high school or university students through advisors. It is a simulation of United Nations and its committees,where important world problems are discussed and resolved by the participating high school or university students. The main language used in the Model United Nations Conferences is usually English. However, German, Turkish or different languages may be considered valid according to the conferences. Students participating in the conference become delegates of a country and try to discuss and resolve important world issues in the various organs of the United Nations (its committees). Before each conference, the participants will prepare for the conference by conducting in-depth research on the foreign policy of the country they will represent and their opinion on the issue to be discussed at the conference.In addition, they conduct a wide-ranging survey of the United Nations´ previously published declarations, conferences on the topic, and all other work it has conducted.

MUN meetings were held at Harvard University in the USA during the time of the League of Nations, while the United Nations was not yet established in the 1920s. MUN Conferences, which became widespread especialIy after the establishment of the United Nations in 1945, are now organized internationally by many high schools and universities in most countries every year. The primary aim of the Model United Nations conferences is to provide participants with an insight into the current and important World problems and possible solutions of problems, as well as the ability and productive thinking of young people and self-confidence. Since the official language of most of their conferences is English, it plays a major role in the development and practice of foreign language skills of participating young people. Students attending the conferences can also learn their interest in branches such as International Relations and Law. In addition, at the end of the Model United Nations conferences, the participation certificates given to the participants are among the gualifications reguired in the acguisition of students at many universities in the international arena or in some business branches abroad in particular. Participants from foreign countries and from different cities also play an important role in the cultural exchange of young people and the formation of international friendships. VEFAMUN CLUB

Model United Nations in Vefa, which started with a single person in 2012, became a large group with the HASALMUN conference, which we participated as a delegation for the first time in February 2013. In April and May of the same year more than 60 students benefited from a comprehensive MUN training program. In 2013, this formation became a club with the necessary permissions and the determination of responsible teachers. Our club also continued participating in conferences organized by various schools such as İstanbul Erkek Lisesi, Kabataş Erkek Lisesi and Yeditepe University.

At the beginning of 2014, our students started to become an experienced group in MUN conferences with the awards of Outstanding and Honorable Mentions. Our school has become an important part of conferences such as KMUN organized by Kabataş Erkek High School in May 2014, by participating more than 20 delegates. Throughout the 2014-2015 academic year, our club took part in the academic teams and also standed in the background of the conferences. Especialiy in the last three years, we have organized pre-conference trainings to prepare our new members for the organizations they will attend. We have successfully represented our school in the IELMUN, SOBILMUN, IUMUN, GSLMUN, YMUN, HASALMUN and HASMUN conferences that we attended during our academic year. During these five years we took part actively and successfully in Turkey MUN Society both academicalIy and socialiy.

We have increased our level by announcing the name of our school among high school and universities by winning various prizes and achievements at every conference we attended. By providing MUN activity to Vefa High School students; we aimed to be the conscious, self-confident individuals in the society. We approached this goal day by day and in 2017 we held the MUN conference for the first time in our school. Our aim is to advance this organization to make it a tradition
